Evening Snowshoe FAQ's

What should I wear & bring?

- Good walking boots or laced up snow boots (not 'moon boots' or Sorrels as they are too big for our snowshoes) Not trainers as you will get very cold, wet feet! It is possible to hire boots from Intersport in Morzine for €3/half day

- Warm trousers such as thinner salopettes

- layers - t-shirt / wicking top & fleecey jumper and a jacket.  You can get warm so layering is the way to go

- Hat, gloves, sunglasses, suncream

- Small rucksack with some water in and space for a spare jumper

- camera for fab pictures!

What is the difference between an evening Open snowshoe and a Private snowshoe?
You pay for an open snowshoe per person.  It is ideal if there are just a couple of you as it makes it cheaper than a private snowshoe.  This is also the place to come to meet more people and socialise a little!  Of course you don't know who will be in the groups and so we may go at a slower pace than you would like.  On Open sessions, we meet at a central location for easy pick up and drop off.

A Private group snowshoe is better if you do not want to mix with other people, if there is not an open snowshoe time suited to you or if there are a larger group of you then it is more economical to book.  We will pick up and drop off at your accommodation

Can I bring my dog(s)?

We do not advise bringing dogs on an evening snowshoe as if they get lost in the dark it will be harder to find them.

Will I be fit enough?
Yes! We are trained guides who find an easy middle pace.  We have lots of mini breaks to look at the view or to learn about the area - we go at the slowest pace.

Can I bring my small child?
Yes of course - small children that can be carried in a carry pack are welcome.  We ask that you still book a (free) ticket for them as of course they will need their own seat in the minibus.  You will also have to provide your own child seat for the minibus as we only have booster seats.  We ask that children 6 or younger who are not in a carry pack do not come on the Open snowshoe sessions as this will considerably slow down full paying adults.  However, again, please do ask as it depends how many other bookings we have on the event.

How long are the evening sessions?
We pick you up at 18.00 and will generally return you around 21.00.  This includes a transfer time in the minibus which can be 15 to 30 minutes depending on the chosen area and traffic.

Where do we go snowshoeing?

We choose safe areas that will be suitable for all / easy levels,

Can you pick me up from my accommodation?

On an open snowshoe with other people on this we ask you to meet at a central location so that we can all get the maximum amount of time out snowshoeing.  If you have booked a private group snowshoe then we will pick you up from your accommodation.

What if the weather is bad?

If we judge the weather to be too bad or avalanche risk too high, we will contact you as soon as possible to arrange another day or a full refund.
